The motor homonculus is the motor representation of a human based onthe proportion of area that are assigned for each part in the cerebrum. Its kinda weird to think that in a way thats who we are inside our brain. The hands, lips and tongue get the lions share owing to their need for control of finger dexterity and language. Hence they are grossly exaggerated giving him a scary extraterrestrial look from some spielberg movie. Thats when I thought I would be a nightmare experience to get a slap or a kiss from him. Thus the cartoon was born;-)
My blog is a means for expressing my thoughts, those humorous moments that i see everyday in my medical world, through my cartoons. As I started seeing this boring, serious, sober and mellowed down medical life through a humorous eye, I realised this world has so much of funny moments hidden underneath. I am kind of excavating this treasure trove of fun!

Pulse rate or per rectal?
During my test and discussion class at kottayam, a teacher from one of the medical colleges in Trisshur recounted this incident of an apprehensive 1st year Surgery PGT who was asked to monitor the pulse rate of a serious patient in the ward by his superior. He apparently couldnt quite get the order, as he mistook it as per rectal examination for any bleeding episode (as the patient had melaena too). The whole confusion was becos of the abbrev. 'PR' whuch can mean both! As a result, he ended up checking his rectum whole day in the ward, every 15 mins. The superior when he came to know, he seemed to be more amused than annoyed aout the whole ordeal.

Dumping syndrome
Medically speaking, Dumping syndrome is a myriad of tummy problems ranging from nausea, vomiting, retching, diarrhoea, flushing etc which is the price you pay for removing a significant portion the stomach known as gastrectomy. However, i couldnt contain my fancies what this medical term actually sounds like. If this came as a qtn and i hadnt heard about it, i would have gone to lengths describing the anguish and neurosis of a heartbroken love forsaken lover, with clinical features and al that. lol :-)
