The motor homonculus is the motor representation of a human based onthe proportion of area that are assigned for each part in the cerebrum. Its kinda weird to think that in a way thats who we are inside our brain. The hands, lips and tongue get the lions share owing to their need for control of finger dexterity and language. Hence they are grossly exaggerated giving him a scary extraterrestrial look from some spielberg movie. Thats when I thought I would be a nightmare experience to get a slap or a kiss from him. Thus the cartoon was born;-)
My blog is a means for expressing my thoughts, those humorous moments that i see everyday in my medical world, through my cartoons. As I started seeing this boring, serious, sober and mellowed down medical life through a humorous eye, I realised this world has so much of funny moments hidden underneath. I am kind of excavating this treasure trove of fun!

Pulse rate or per rectal?
During my test and discussion class at kottayam, a teacher from one of the medical colleges in Trisshur recounted this incident of an apprehensive 1st year Surgery PGT who was asked to monitor the pulse rate of a serious patient in the ward by his superior. He apparently couldnt quite get the order, as he mistook it as per rectal examination for any bleeding episode (as the patient had melaena too). The whole confusion was becos of the abbrev. 'PR' whuch can mean both! As a result, he ended up checking his rectum whole day in the ward, every 15 mins. The superior when he came to know, he seemed to be more amused than annoyed aout the whole ordeal.

Dumping syndrome
Medically speaking, Dumping syndrome is a myriad of tummy problems ranging from nausea, vomiting, retching, diarrhoea, flushing etc which is the price you pay for removing a significant portion the stomach known as gastrectomy. However, i couldnt contain my fancies what this medical term actually sounds like. If this came as a qtn and i hadnt heard about it, i would have gone to lengths describing the anguish and neurosis of a heartbroken love forsaken lover, with clinical features and al that. lol :-)
Jumping from one idea to another, scraping them and finally i settled on this one. Not so much of a favrite but since it was alredy on my rough sketch notebook i made it. My brain and my fingers seem rigid tonight. Normal shades and strokes are hard to come. But atlast pencilling is done with lotsa eraser works. Inking shouldnt take much time. Atleast it will keep my brain occupied.

Grenade-Hawker
This cartoon was drawn during a spate of bomb blasts in Imphal, manipur. Most of these grenade attacks are usually warning threats from the insurgents to the common people when they demand a ransom which the poor people are unable to fulfil. The threat consist of throwing a bomb at the residence of these people which is almost ritualistic, cos they never seem to burst. This compelled me to think where do these grenades come from. The infamous chinese moreh market which is known for all the substandard items they can manufacture under the sun didnt even leave this side of business. This pic is a humorous take on the whole situation.
Being friend with the Big Guy
Adeenpa, my dear friend, is a big guy while i am a shorty. So we being friends walking together makes me look extra puny..more like chacha chaudry and sabu. He also has a habit of hi fiving often, which technically is a really hifive for me while it must be kind of low five for him. So my humor starving cerebrum thought of a strip that i thought wud be hilarious. I tried this on my galaxy tab with my index finger so the lines are staggered and more like a rage comic. But still this one remains one of my personal faves:)

SPOT THE GYNAECOLOGIST!
Two years ago while chatting with my senior fren Dr.Ruata on facebook he unmindfully used the short message lingo 'hymen' in place of hi man, and i burst out into laughter. Next moment i realised this could make an excellent cartoon strip depicting the professionalism of gynaecologists in the outside world. I kept the rough sketch of this one whole time on my notebook in case i forget. At some point of time i thought to drop the idea as some might find it little vulgar. But I believe true medical minded people will surely find the humor behind this toon and not scratch search for nuances of obscenity.
So heres the final sketch. hope you liked it:-)

The Art Of Dozing in a Lecture Hall
Lecture hall sleeping is something even the most prudent students wont deny doing it. I was always in the third category but somehow escaped getting caught everytime. I have seen my frens dozing in all the four categories. Its funny to check on all your frens during a boring lecture and see their sleeping styles. I rarely saw frontbenchers dozing, but m sure they must have been doing the proptosis sleep the whole time..lol. One of my favrite:-)
CLUELESS!
This toon is really personal to me cos i have been in this situation painfully lotsa times. But as i drew this one i always felt going thru such phases in medical life is a part of the learning process. As I look back now anecdotes of viva blunders form the most hilarious part of my cherished moments in RIMS and m glad its been a story of my life i can always go and look back in contemplation..and smile:-)

The usual post NEET banter
As the NEET exams concluded just couple of days back, i thought it would be apt to sketch the humorous side of it. For some this has some nuances of sarcasm, but I want my viewers to see the humorous side of it and accept that this DO happen post exam. Knowingly or unknowingly I have been into such post exam dramarama few times and i believe its a common etiquette among most of the examinees..:-)
